The accident was avoided, because he wisely hit his brakes and yielded. I have no tolerance for the combination of inconsiderateness and stupidity. One or the other, a very small tolerance, but both, nope, zero.

I shouldn't have said "beat him to the spot" that does imply racing. I followed the car in front of me with less than a car-length between us. Traffic was moving at about 20 mph with no obstructions ahead.
